Cricketers wish Indian coach Anil Kumble on his 46th birthday
Former Indian Test captain and current coach, Anil Kumble is turning 46 today and he has been the centre of attraction among his teammates and the Indian cricket fraternity.
Anil Kumble has given the Indian cricket fans a lot of moments to cherish. His 10-wicket haul against Pakistan at New Delhi, the wicket of Brian Lara with a fractured jaw, leading India to a historic win at Perth etc. are some of the moments that come our mind when we talk about Anil Kumble.
In an International career that spanned over 18 years, Anil Kumble has etched his name in the history of Indian cricket as he ended his career as India’s leading wicket-taker in both Tests and ODIs. In the 132 Test matches he played for India, Kumble scalped 619 wickets at an average of just over 29. His numbers are equally good in the limited overs format as he took 337 wickets from 271 ODIs at an average of 30.
Kumble is also the only Indian and the second overall after Jim Lakers to have taken all the 10 wickets in an innings in Tests. He achieved the feat against Pakistan at New Delhi in 1999. After his playing days, Kumble served as a mentor for IPL side Mumbai Indians before taking up the role of Indian cricket team’s coach.
