Cricketing fraternity wishes Rahul Dravid a very happy birthday
Former India captain and the current coach of the India 'A' and Under-19 team Rahul Dravid celebrated his 45th birthday on Thursday.
The legendary batsman, who is presently in New Zealand with the Under-19 team for the World Cup, remains a much-admired man in the cricketing world, almost six years after announcing his retirement from international cricket.
In a career spanning 16 years, Dravid amassed 13288 runs in 164 Test matches at an average of 52.31, with 36 hundred and 63 fifties.
He was equally impressive in the 50-over format of the game as well, scoring 10889 runs in 344 matches at an average of 39.16.
He holds the record for the most number of catches taken by any fielder in Test history, with 210 takes in 164 matches. He was also the first recipient of ICC's Player of the Year award in 2004.
In June 2015, he took over as the head coach of the India A and Under-19 team
The fraternity wished the former right-hander as he turned a year older.
Sachin Tendulkar, a man with whom Dravid shared many a memorable partnership, wished him well for the Under-19 World Cup.
VVS Laxman, someone with whom Dravid put on two significant partnership at Kolkata in 2001 and Adelaide in 2003, also wished his former teammate well on his birthday.
