IPL 2018: CSK rope in David Willey as replacement for Kedar Jadhav

Yorkshire posted a tweet confirming David Willey's departure to CSK

England all-rounder David Willey will join Chennai Super Kings as the replacement for the injured Kedar Jadhav, who was ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2018 season following a hamstring injury he picked up during his side's opener against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

Jadhav played a key role in the nail-biting one-wicket win over CSK's arch-rivals but with confirmation that the 33-year-old would play no further part in this edition, the MS Dhoni-led side was on the lookout for an able replacement and they have finally got the man they were looking for.

Sportskeeda had reported earlier today that CSK were close to signing Willey who had gone unsold with a base price of Rs 2 crore at the 2018 IPL player auctions.

The news has now been confirmed by Willey's English county side Yorkshire, who posted a tweet confirming the fact that the 28-year-old is set to join teammate Liam Plunkett on their way to the IPL, with the latter having been signed by Delhi Daredevils as the replacement for South Africa's Kagiso Rabada.

Having lost New Zealand's Mitchell Santner to injury ahead of the 2018 IPL season, CSK had a place in their overseas roster and with Jadhav also meeting a similar fate, the think-tank of the Chennai-based franchise have opted to go for the 28-year-old who will become the 12th Englishman to feature in this year's IPL.

Yorkshire are clearly not impressed by the manner in which they have lost two quality players from their roster just days ahead of their Championship opener against Essex on Friday and are set to seek an IPL cut-off date for player signings to avoid a similar fate in future seasons.
