Dale Steyn joins the 400 club
South African bowling spearhead Dale Steyn has joined the 400 club in Test Cricket today when he dismissed Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal on the first day of the second Test at Dhaka. He became only the second South African after Shaun Pollock to achieve this feat.
More importantly, he has become the second joint fastest in terms of matches alongside the legendary Richard Hadlee to reach this milestone, just behind Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan. That is a massive achievement considering the fact that the pitches around the world are mostly flat these days.
Regarded as the best fast bowler from the current lot, Steyn has one of the best strike rates ever in Test history. He has been at his lethal best over the last two years as he has averaged 17.66 in 2013 and 19.56 in 2014.
He picked up 3 wickets in the only innings during the first Test of this series as the match was interrupted due to rain. South Africa will be hoping for him to deliver in this match as they will be dropping a lot of rating points if they lose or draw this Test since Bangladesh are ranked at number 9.
