Daredevils sign Samuels to replace De Kock

West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels

Delhi Daredevils have confirmed the signing of veteran West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season.

Samuels, 36, joins the struggling Daredevils as a belated replacement for Quinton de Kock, who was ruled out of the IPL last month with a finger injury.

A veteran of 149 Twenty20 matches and a two-time World T20 winner with the Windies, Samuels will be tasked with helping to turn around Delhi's fortunes.

The Daredevils sit second-bottom of the IPL, having won just two of their first six matches ahead of a meeting with leaders Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.

Samuels went unsold at the IPL auction and last played in the competition back in 2013, for the now defunct Pune Warriors.

His T20 batting average stands at an impressive 32.66, while he has also claimed 68 wickets at 26 with his off-spin.
