Darren Bravo sent back home from Zimbabwe tri-series following Twitter outburst

Darren Bravo embroiled in controversy

Darren Bravo, the West Indian batsmen has been sent back home from Zimbabwe after he was accused of inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour'. Bravo was part of the ODI squad for the upcoming tri-series which also includes hosts Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. All-rounder Jason Mohammed has been named the replacement in the squad.

The left-hander has been one of the in-form players for West Indies, but this decision was taken after Bravo took to Twitter to lash out as board president Dave Cameron who had gone on record to explain the reasons behind offering Bravo a Grade C contract which the southpaw refused.

According to a WICB statement,  this decision had to be taken and Darren Bravo "replaced due to inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB".

The statement further said that there is clear clause in his contract which "clearly states not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute, and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner."

However, it has to be mentioned that the reasons voiced by Cameroon were not entirely justified. Bravo has been one of the most consistent players for the West Indies in the recent past and during the just concluded tour to UAE, he was one of the top performers for the Caribbean team. He was the second highest run scorer after opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite.

"If you continue to keep giving him an A contract then what is the motivation to get better? He has been on an A contract and he hasn't done well," Cameroon said, which seems to be quite bizarre considering the recent form of Bravo.

Also, the WICB statement revealed that mystery spinner Sunil Narine had pulled out of the tour owing to personal reasons and he was replaced by leg spinner Devendra Bishoo.

Bishoo was brilliant in the Test series and would love to take his form into the limited overs version where he last made an appearance way back in October 2011.

The tri-series commences on November 14 with the West Indies playing their first match on November 16.
