Dav Whatmore to coach Zimbabwe

Dav Whatmore has been called upon by Zimbabwe Cricket to help them prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Whatmore has been appointed after Stephen Mangongo was sacked in December. Joining Whatmore will be a bowling coach (Douglas Hondo) and a batting coach who has not been announced yet.

Zimbabwe will definitely be looking at Whatmore's experience of coaching at the biggest stage of them all; Whatmore has won the 1996 World Cup with the Sri Lankan team. The African nation will be desperate for a change in their cricketing fortunes. They lost 0-8 against Bangladesh and lost against West Indies and New Zealand. Domestic cricket in the country has also been marred by strikes over non-payment of fees.

Elton Chigumbura will lead the team and Alistair Campbell is slated to rejoin the Zimbabwe cricket team as the board's managing director.
