David Warner involved in another on-field spat

David Warner of Australia A bats against South Africa A while wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile looks on

Australian batsman David Warner found his name again in the news for all the wrong reasons after having an on-field altercation with South Africa A’s wicket-keeper Thami Tsolekile.

Warner, who was exiled from the nation’s main cricket team after exchanging blows with English batsman Joe Root in a Birmingham nightclub during the Champions Trophy, was caught in a war of words with South Africa A’s wicketkeeper and the duo had to be separated by South Africa A skipper Vaughn van Jaarsveld before things got ugly.

After an impressive 193 off 266 deliveries in his first innings in the first unofficial Test match between Australia A and South Africa A, Warner was in the process of making his critics and the selectors reconsider taking him back into the squad for the third Ashes Test match against England beginning in Old Trafford on Thursday.

However, with a fresh controversy linking the left-handed batsman, it seems as if all his efforts to impress coach Darren Lehmann among many others, seems to have gone in vain.

Warner, however, termed the incident a “friendly banter” as he took to Twitter after the match: “Great to be back playing cricket, had lots of fun this week and a bit of friendly banter from the wicket keeper. Was very funny!!”

The match on the other hand concluded in a draw which was the most likely outcome as there wasn’t enough time for South Africa A to play their second innings. Both the teams will now have a three day break before they can lock horns again in the second unofficial Test commencing on July 31 in Rustenburg.
