Day 1 of Mohali Test washed out
Incessant rains washed out day 1 of the Mohali Test between India and Australia. The weather forecast hinted at some heavy rains in Mohali last evening and proving the forecasters right, it poured heavily in the morning.
After a wait of more than three hours, there was no sign of rains abating, prompting the umpires to call off the day’s play.
Australia replaced Glenn Maxwell with Nathan Lyon despite his reasonable performance in the last test. Brad Haddin was also named in the squad taking Matthew Wade’s place. For India, Shikhar Dhawan is set to play his 1st match of the series in place of the dropped, Virender Sehwag.
Play will start at 9 a.m. on all the remaining days and toss will take place at 8.30 a.m. Friday morning.
Met officials here said intermittent showers could continue throughout Thursday.
