Death bowling stronger for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 6: Rahul Dravid

Rajasthan Royals skipper Rahul Dravid feels that the inclusion of bowlers like Fidel Edwards and James Faulkner to their team could boost their death bowling in a significant manner.

Expecting his side to perform better this year, he said, “Last year we were hampered by injuries to our main bowlers, Shaun Tait, Kevon Cooper and S Sreesanth. Moreover, Shane Watson was not available for most of the matches and that meant that, at times, the responsibility of bowling death overs was shouldered by rather inexperienced bowlers.

“We had to pay the price for that but this time we are better equipped. In the auctions, we went for Fidel Edwards and James Faulkner under our backup plans. Edwards can generate good pace like Tait, and Faulkner has been doing well in this version of cricket.”

On Sreesanth’s fitness he said, “He has been bowling very well in the nets and practice matches. He is eager to prove himself.”

He admitted that Shane Watson’s sheer presence in the dressing room will be great for the team. On being asked if the Australian all-rounder will bowl in this year’s IPL, he said, “I feel at some point of time he will bowl but he will have to decide himself.”

However, he was not so sure about who will be opening the batting along with Ajinkya Rahane. He said it will depend on the options they have.
