New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) side Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday said the team will sport lavender-coloured jerseys for their May 1 home match against Kings XI Punjab to create awareness about cancer.

Lavender is recognised and accepted as the colour of a cancer survivor. This project is aimed at improving cancer education and awareness as part of the 'Daredevils Cares' initiative, a Daredevils release said.

Daredevils also invited their fans, who will attend the team's last match of the season at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium, to wear lavender-coloured clothes to show their support for and raise awareness about cancer.

The IPL franchise will provide the opportunity for its fans to buy the lavender-coloured kit from its merchandise stalls. During the match, every Daredevils player will wear a lavender-coloured ribbon and 100 cancer-affected children will watch the match.

The team are currently placed in the sixth spot in the standings with six points from seven matches, having lost four and won three.
