Delhi Daredevils to run cricket clinics in UAE
There is much to smile about as the last phase of the UAE leg of IPL comes to an end. IPL has been lucky to receive much love and passion from the people of UAE.
As part of its venture, one of the IPL teams this season, Delhi Daredevils aspires to encourage cricket and foster talent among the masses. DD will be integrating with the UAE based G Force Cricket Academy to train upcoming cricket talent in Dubai.
Delhi Daredevils support staff would be conducting five-day clinics in the country which will be spread over the next one year. This initiative undertaken by an IPL franchise in a foreign country is unique. However, similar such initiatives have been taken by the DD across schools in India.
DD Board Director, TA Sekar said, “This is a huge opportunity for the youngsters as they will be getting first hand coaching tips from the top class DD coaching team. UAE has a huge potential to make a mark on world cricket map and I am sure that through this clinics we would be able to unearth substantial talent that can go on to represent the country over the years.”
G Force Cricket Academy is a body responsible for holding regular coaching classes for boys above the age of 6 years. It is run by former Saurashtrian cricketer, Gopal Jaspara.
Jaspara expressed his acceptance towards the initiative and said, “We have already had the likes of Ramakant Achrekar, coach of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar gracing our academy. Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams is a Brand Ambassador with the Academy. But this tie up with DD will go a long way in nurturing talent here.”
Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua said, “Delhi Daredevils have been involved in various development initiatives in Delhi and NCR region which aim at training and nurturing talented cricketers as we look to broad base the talent pool. This association with G Force will only help us to extend our initiatives overseas as well.”
“We also plan to open a full-fledged Cricket Academy in Delhi NCR and some other countries in Asia in the coming days” Dua added.
