Delhi Daredevils win IPL practice match against Sunrisers Hyderabad

With one day to go for the seventh season of IPL , Delhi Daredevils faced off SunRisers Hyderabad in a practice match at the ICC academy in Dubai today.

Delhi Daredevils emerged victorious after batting second to clinch a victory over the SunRisers.

There were 2 practice matches yesterday – KKR vs CSK and one organised by RCB among its squad.

Today, Sunrisers skipper, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a good start with Aaron Finch and Dhawan opening the batting.

Finch was clean bowled by Jaydev Unadkat while Dhawan played a captain’s knock, scoring a rollicking 91 not out off 60 balls. They managed to put up a score of 167 for 4 on board after the completion of 20 overs.

The Daredevils began their run chase in style with Manoj Tiwari opening the batting for them. Dale Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were rested for this game as the Sunrisers wanted to experiment with the bench strength of their bowling department.

Manoj Tiwari emerged as the highest scorer for the Delhi outfit as he played a match-winning innings of 72 from just 47 balls.

In the end it was a comfortable victory for DDR as they successfully achieved the target of 168 set by the SunRisers.

A perfect start to the season for the Daredevils as this win will certainly boost their confidence  before the IPL 7 commences.
