Delighted with team's all-round performance: Bangladesh skipper

Mashrafe celebrates with Taskin

Mirpur (Bangladesh), June 19 (IANS) Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said he was delighted with the overall performance put up by his team to beat India, adding that debutant pacer Mustafizur Rahman's (5/50) did not come as a surprise to them.

Chasing a stiff target of 308, India folded for 228 in 46 overs, thus losing the first One-Day International (ODI) by 79 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here on Thursday:

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Rahman made a dream debut to fashion the victory for the home team.

"Definitely delighted with team's performance. You can't ask for more than that. The way the boys are playing, I am extremely happy with their performance. We knew that he (Mustafizur) can surprise any batsman, he bowled really well," Mortaza said at the post-match presentation ceremony on Thursday.

The skipper said Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar set the tone at the start with 102-run opening stand.

"It was a brilliant start from Tamim and Soumya Sarkar, that set the tone for us. We lost the momentum due to rain in the middle but Shakib and Sabbir Rahman did it for us."

"The fast bowlers delivered and I am really happy with the boys. Maybe, we were 20-30 short, but 300 is always a tough ask. I just asked the bowlers to bowl in the right areas and they did it," Mortaza said.
