Dhoni, coach pat Jadeja
Kolkata, April 20 (IANS):
Following his Man of the Match performance against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens Saturday, Chennai Super Kings alrounder Ravinder Jadeja not only got words of praise from his skipper M.S. Dhoni but also from coach Stephen Fleming.
“It was good to have a match winning inning by one of our players. He (Jadeja) is developing as a player. He is becoming more confident and he is becoming more comfortable with his peers especially with the captain and key players which is making a big difference,” said Fleming at the post match media conference.
“Jadeja is getting better and understanding what is going and has become a part of the changing room. It is good that he changed the course of the match today,” said Fleming about Jadeja who took 3/20 and then played a blistering 14 ball 36 to take his team home chasing 120 set by KKR.
“There are two types of batsmen, one who don’t think and go after everything, and others who plan and target bowlers. We want him (Jadeja) to be really comfortable in the dressing room,” said Dhoni after his team secured a 4-wicket win over the Knights.
He however, conceded that his batsmen were not doing well.
“We did not bat well, it is one area where we would like to be more consistent,” said Dhoni whose CSK was in spot of bother losing some quick wickets and needed 27 runs from the last three overs with just four wickets in hand.
Fleming too admitted that his batsmen were not as positive as they should have been while chasing a small target.
“Chasing small targets can sometimes make you hesitant. We were not as positive as we should have been. We were desperate to play the spinner well. May we were conservative and lost wickets at key times,” he said.
The coach also said the wicket was not “overtly easy” and credited KKR for bowling and fielding well.
