Don Bradman the most dominant ever sportsman, says surfing great Kelly Slater
American surfing great Kelly Slater has called legendary Australian batsman as the most dominant sportsman ever and credits the right-hander for setting the benchmark for every athlete.
“If you’re going to be compared to someone who was great in his sport, the biggest honour would be Donald Bradman.
“He was the greatest cricketer of all-time. His batting average in cricket was double the next guy. He was twice as good a hitter as the second guy in all-time. As far as setting the bar in sport, he set the bar, I think,” Slater, the 11-time world surfing champion said.
The 42-year-old made his choice after he was asked to vote for the person who he thinks dominated his sport like no other. Since Americans are not known to be great followers of the gentleman’s game, as evident from Slater’s ‘hitter’ remark for a batsman, his call to chose “someone most Americans have never heard of” has come as a surprise for the American media.
However, it is only fair for Bradman to be called as the dominant ever as he only missed out by 4 runs to end his career with a 100+ average per dismissal.
