Rahul Dravid would have been amazing in advisory committee, says Virat Kohli
Indian test captain Virat Kohli said he wanted the former Indian captain Rahul Dravid in the new advisory committee. He also said that it would have been perfect to have all four (Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid) of them together on board.
“It would have been amazing if all four would have been on board. (But) he (Dravid) must have had some obligation or commitment,” Kohli said during a promotional event in New Delhi.
The new advisory committee was made recently to help players and also the board to take developing steps, especially for India's overseas performance. Kohli added saying that it'll be wonderful to get help from the legends of the game.
“If you have played cricket then you have grown up watching these legends. It’s a wonderful thing to have happened and they will help us in many ways,” Kohli said.
The 26-year-old thinks decision to retain Ravi Shastri as the team director is really good because he brings a lot of confidence to the team.
“As long as he wants to continue, it would be beneficial for the team. He is someone who played cricket on his own terms. He brings in that confidence and self-belief. You can count on him.”
Confident Kohli has set his goals straight and he wants to take this team to a new height by building a new environment in the team.
“First and foremost (goal) is to play the kind of cricket we want to. I want to build an environment to make the team feel free. No one should hesitate to express himself and it would help everyone to contribute to the team’s cause,” he said.
