Video: Dream emergence of Yuvraj Singh on international stage
Playing only your second match against an attack consisting of Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie can be a nightmare for many batsmen. But Yuvraj Singh’s emergence on the international cricket scene was a dream one; a match that neither Yuvraj nor we can forget.
Firstly, he scored 84 runs off just 80 balls to take India to a respectable total. India were in a big trouble after losing Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly for just 90 runs on the scoreboard.
Later, he took a blinder to dismiss Ian Harvey. It was also his first International catch; there is no surprise that he has emerged as one of the best fielders in cricket.
If all these were not enough, he ran out Michael Bevan with a powerful direct throw. Bevan was playing brilliantly on 42, and this run-out turned the match in India’s favour.
