Dwayne Bravo celebrates return to fitness
Port of Spain, Jan 10 (IANS/CMC): West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo says he feels good to be back to full fitness after recovering from injury sustained during the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Sri Lanka last year.
Bravo celebrated his recovery with a match winning performance in Trinidad and Tobago’s seven-wicket victory over Combined Campuses and Colleges in the Caribbean T20 tournament Tuesday.
“It’s nice to be back playing again, being competitive and doing what I really love – which is bat and bowl,” declared the 29-year-old Bravo.
“I am happy and I thank God I have returned to fitness again and hopefully I can continue throughout the tournament.”
Bravo had the economical figures of one wicket for eight runs off four overs that helped restrict the CCC to 94 for eight off 20 overs.
He proved a good back-up for Kevon Cooper and Sunil Narine who picked up five wickets between them.
“This was the first spell I bowled flat-out since I came back from injury. I played a few warm-up games, but I was only allowed to bowl two overs per game on the advice of the physios,” said Bravo, who also held a full-length diving catch at short-midwicket.
“This is my first match when I actually bowled ‘all out’ and I’m feeling good. This pitch was good for seam bowling so I just made full use of it.”
