Dynamic Dhoni’s magic continues as India win sixth Test on the trot
With a comprehensive win in the second test against the West Indies, MS Dhoni has made a new Indian record of winning 8 Tests by an innings. This was India’s sixth consecutive test win as well. So how much of it is due to our charismatic captain? Let us find out!
Sometimes, personal achievements get subdued under the shadow of a particular event. Many of the fans believe that this is precisely what is happening with the Indian cricket team. Obviously, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement and his final match have got their own importance. But still, the valuable contributions made by the whole team – and particularly by Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and R. Ashwin – cannot be underestimated.
Though we all love Sachin, perhaps the media has dedicated too many stories exclusively to the Master Blaster.
In the race to give breaking news, or to get maximum viewership, the media tends to forget one fundamental fact – the valuable contribution made by the Indian skipper. I truly believe that a leader is one who leads in an exemplary way by bravely facing any situation. This is what captain MS Dhoni has been doing since many years. First of all, he has infused a great level of integration among the team. Secondly, he has always given preference to the interest of the team, instead of going for his own records.
Remember that India were 5 wickets down in the first Test when Dhoni came in to bat. And under the given situation, he scored 42 valuable runs off just 63 balls. But the rest is history, as India not only came out of a disappointing situation, but thanks to Rohit and Ashwin, they took a lead of 219 runs.
But there is a reason why Dhoni is called ‘captain cool’. After many such timely innings with the bat, he rotates the bowlers in a most effective manner. Setting perfect field placements has also been a critical factor in the victories achieved by Team India recently.
Also, Dhoni seldom gets irritated. Many times, a number misfields result in giving away important runs, but Dhoni never makes much of a fuss. These factors eventually contribute a lot in infusing confidence in and respect for the captain, and in return the team members give their 100% every time.
Dhoni is a very mature person. He gave a bowling opportunity to Sachin Tendulkar in this match – not only to trouble the batsmen, but also to felicitate him, this being his final match.
Most of the fans also believe that under his leadership, we would be strong contenders for the 2015 World Cup. That would be a fitting end for a great captain.
Dhoni has achieved the status of an icon and a role model. He is a perfect source of inspiration. The way he carries himself is really praise worthy. His self esteem and confidence are par excellence.
We are lucky to have you, Sir!
