Ed Cowan comes up with hilarious post on George Bailey's hat and India's DRS woes

The two most talked about issues from the ongoing Australia-India ODI series have been India’s non-acceptance of the Decision Review System and George Bailey’s wide rimmed hat – both of which have been summed up in cricketer Ed Cowan’s Instagram post through the viral meme ‘Be Like Bill’, which has invaded the social media in 2016.

Bailey took the cricketing world by storm when he took the field in the 1st ODI at Perth sporting a wide-rimmed hat on his head, in what was a throwback to the 1990s. He has not limited his exploits in the series to the hat, however, and his 112 and 76* currently places him as the most successful batsman of the series so far, apart from Rohit Sharma.

New South Wales batsman Ed Cowan, who played 18 Tests for Australia from 2011 and 2013, came up with an epic burn on events that transpired in the first match.

Bailey, who scored 112 in a winning cause, had received a reprieve when he had been out for a golden duck, caught behind by MS Dhoni. However, the umpire ruled that the ball had touched Bailey’s thigh pad and not his gloves, and with no option of the DRS to challenge the call, India had to watch on mutely as Bailey went on to pile misery on them.

What Cowan seems to imply, like all the ‘Be Like Bill’ memes have implied criticism at someone else, is that the hatted Bailey is smart, but the Indians are not. He also seems to imply that the yellow hat was the reason behind all this, and who are we to argue that it wasn’t?
