Eden Gardens to hold photo exhibition to celebrate India's 500th Test match
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to hold a photo exhibition to mark India's fascinating journey on the occasion of 500 Test appearance. This exhibition will summarise some of the most famous moments in Indian cricket.
India will take on New Zealand in the second match of the series and this will be the 501st overall played by India over the last 84 years. The 500th Test match will be held at Green Park, Kanpur from September 22.
"There will be photos of India's 500 Tests. A small show will be organised during the lunch break on the first day," said Sourav Ganguly, who is the CAB president. This decision was taken after a meeting was held with different other association officials.
There will also be a canopy in place around the ground to mark the momentous occasion.
"There will be television sets and entertainment. Anil (Kumble) and (Sunil) Gavaskar will talk about India's glorious Test journey," Ganguly added.
Also, there will be a fan zone around the ground for the audience to click selfies with the legends.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India have made elaborate arrangements to celebrate India's 500 Test appearance. They have thus decided to invite all the former India captains to Kanpur for the first Test match. Also, a specially minted silver coin with 500th Test embossed on will be used for the toss.
“The BCCI wants to felicitate all the former captains during the Test match. Green Park is one of the first four Test venues in India along with Chepauk, Wankhede and Eden Gardens. It will be a fitting tribute to all those former captains, who could be present on the occasion. The BCCI is making all arrangements,” UPCA boss and BCCI official, Rajiv Shukla.
Apart from this, the BCCI and the UPCA mare also preparing T-shirts with ‘500th Test’ written on it and will be presented to the underprivileged children, who will be special invitees at the stadium for all the Test match days.
