England slip to 5th in ICC Test rankings after series loss
England’s 1st ever Test series loss to Sri Lanka on home soil means that the English team, apart from suffering the ignominy of defeat to a relatively weak Sri Lankan side, has also slipped two places, from 3rd to 5th in the ICC Team Rankings for Test matches, while Sri Lanka, who were languishing at 7th place, have made the jump up to 6th place.
Pakistan and India are the beneficiaries of England’s downfall, as they have risen to 3rd and 4th respectively. New Zealand though, as a result of Sri Lanka’s series win have slipped to 7th place from 6th. The rest of the teams remain unaffected by the outcome of the England vs Sri Lanka Test series.
