England bowling coach, Peter Moores admits they must rethink bowling tactics
England relied heavily on slow, short balls to take wickets against Australia, but their strategy backfired as they succumbed to a 111-run loss to the host nation in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Afterwards, bowling coach Peter Moores admitted that they must rethink their bowling strategy to revive their World Cup hopes.
He said, “It (bowling strategy) is something we will definitely review. If we can get that area better it's going to make a significant difference.
“We didn't get it right at the end of the innings. The yorker is a very good ball at the end of the innings and some players are better at doing it than others.
“It's something we're working very hard to get better at as quick as we can. We didn't win or lose the trophy but we've got to win enough games to get through to the knock-out games and by that stage be playing well enough to beat any side.”
Glenn Maxwell and Brad Haddin had an easy outing facing the bouncers by the English pacers.
Moores talks about Morgan’s bad form
Moores also talked about Eoin Morgan’s disappointing run with the bat after the English captain got out without scoring a single run. This was his fourth duck in five innings.
Moores said, “Of course he's very disappointed, but he's got to back himself as a player who's played at this level for a long time and been successful.
“Anybody that's played anything at top-flight level knows you get challenged at times. Eoin is strong as a character and he'll prepare up for Friday and get ready to put himself out there to try and win a game for England.”
