England captain Eoin Morgan eager to continue winning run
England’s limited over captain Eoin Morgan said that his team can beat the best in the world with their new-found aggression and spirit of adventure. England registered a win in the only Twenty20 at Old Trafford after the breathtaking 3-2 ODI series win over New Zealand.
The 29-year-old Morgan was delighted with his team’s recent performance. He said, "This felt a million miles away after the World Cup. This is a fantastic way to finish what has been a great month of cricket.
"When you're trying to implement change within a group it's important to have successes along the way and these guys have had that. We've done it the way we said we would and that's important too. I want these guys to play with as much freedom as possible." he added.
Root is the ultimate professional: Morgan
Morgan did well for England with the bat as well. In 5 ODIs, with one hundred & 3 fifties, he finished with 322 runs and an average of 64.44. He praised Joe Root for his contributions in the New Zealand series as well.
"Joe has been outstanding again. Although he's still very young he's a very senior player in our squad and the guys don't have to look very far for the ultimate professional in the way he goes about his business," he said.
A brilliant 68-run innings from Joe Root and wickets by Mark Wood and David Willey led England to a comprehensive 56-run victory over New Zealand in the only Twenty20 at Old Trafford.
England will start their next assignment against World Cup winners Australia from July 8 to August 24 for the Ashes.
