England confirm Anderson groin tear
James Anderson has emerged as a doubt for England's first Test against South Africa after a scan confirmed the seamer has suffered a tear to his right groin.
England's record wicket-taker in Tests was hurt during last week's Roses match between Lancashire and Yorkshire in the County Championship.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the 34-year-old pace bowler will be the subject of further assessment on Wednesday to "understand the extent of his injury".
Anderson is not part of England's one-day plans, but will be eager to regain full fitness ahead of the Test series against South Africa, which begins at Lord's on July 6.

A stalwart of England's Test side boasting 122 caps in the longest form of the game, Anderson missed last year's two-Test tour of Bangladesh due to a shoulder problem, which also kept him out of the subsequent series-opener with India.
England and South Africa will begin their three-match one-day series at Headingley on Wednesday, before both sides compete in the ICC Champions Trophy.
