England overdependent on James Anderson: Adam Gilchrist
Australian cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist has said that England is relying too much on pacer James Anderson. The former wicketkeeper-batsman also said that the English side’s over dependence on Anderson may prove to be an advantage for Australia later in the series.
“Australia hold Anderson in so much higher regard than the rest of the attack. They are very, very wary of him and concerned about how consistent he is in any conditions. That huge feeling of reliance on Anderson, maybe they can use that to their advantage when coming up against the other bowlers,” said Gilchrist.
Anderson took 10 wickets in the first Test of the ongoing Ashes, which included five-wicket hauls in both the innings, helping England win by a narrow margin of 14 runs.
Apart from Anderson, the other England bowlers did not find much success as the last Aussie pair of Brad Haddin and James Pattinson put up a partnership of 65, which nearly took the Aussies to a historic win.
