England scrap Test series against Sri Lanka
England Cricket Board has scrapped their Test series fixture ‘slot’ against Sri Lanka, which has been held in May every three years since 2000. The ECB came to this decision to avoid any run-ins with the Indian Premier League as it goes on till the end of May resulting in several key players’ absence during the beginning of the series
This happened when Sri Lanka last visited England in 2011. Five players, including Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, missed two warm-up matches in the last series due to their IPL commitments.
