England vs. New Zealand has shaped into an intriguing rivalry in limited-overs cricket in the past decade or so. The two sides have squared off six times over the course of the last eight ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the honours are shared at 3-3.
Their first meeting took place during a Super-8 match of the 2007 T20 World Cup, where the BlackCaps defeated the Three Lions by five runs in what turned out to be a humdinger of an encounter.
England won the next two matches in 2010 and 2012 by three wickets and six wickets respectively before the Kiwis fought back in 2014 to pick up a memorable nine-run victory in Chattogram.
The 2016 edition saw England and New Zealand lock horns in a semi-final for the first time, and it was the English team that emerged victorious, thanks to a breathtaking 44-ball 78 by Jason Roy.
Five years later, the Kiwis fought back with venom, as they defeated the 2010 and 2022 world champions in another semi-final, thanks to a sensational 47-ball 72* by Daryll Mitchell.
