England's Anderson misses Chennai dead rubber with injury
CHENNAI (Reuters) - England will be without their leading wicket-taker James Anderson in the fifth and final test against India, captain Alastair Cook confirmed on Thursday.
"It is a bit of everything, ankle and shoulder. A bit of bowling soreness. We are trying to look after him," Cook told reporters on the eve of the match beginning at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
The 34-year-old right-arm paceman returned from a shoulder injury to play the second test against India, taking four wickets in his team's defeat at Visakhapatnam.
Anderson went wicketless in the subsequent tests in Mohali and Mumbai as India took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
A decision on the availability of fellow paceman Stuart Broad, recovering from a foot injury, would be taken after Thursday's practice.
