English stars set for Pakistan Super League appearance

Members of the English Cricket Team will be seen in action during the PSL 2017

England and Pakistan cannot seem to have enough of each other at the moment. Following a long season in England for Pakistan, where they played 4 Tests, 5 ODIs and 1 T20I, some English cricketers are now set to participate in the 2017 Pakistan Super League.

It is a huge coup for the organisers as a whole host of cricketers are set to take part in the next addition, adding to the star value of the league. The PSL 2017 is scheduled to take place in mid-February, before the IPL gets underway.

While cricketers like Sam Billings and Jonny Bairstow took part in the inaugural edition in the UAE last year, the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn, Jason Roy and Moeen Ali are said to be marquee names this year.

England cricket is at an all-time high. While their Test performances have been exceptional over the past few years, they had taken a beating in the limited overs formats of the game. This has changed with cricketers like Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes showing an aggressive side to their game, that has benifited the side.

Very recently, they broke the record for highest team total in an ODI with their 444-3 against Pakistan in Nottingham. With the 2017 Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup set to be held in England, a number of things are going right for the English.

The fact that James Anderson and Stuart Broad will be seen in action is a surprise, the star bowlers generally miss a lot of T20 action around the world. In the first edition of the PSL, Islamabad United beat the Quetta Gladiators in the final to claim the trophy.

For now, the focus will be on the one T20I between England and Pakistan tomorrow in Manchester.
