Geoffrey Boycott's criticism falls on deaf ears: Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan walks off after being dismissed for another duck

Eoin Morgan has hit back at Geoff Boycott over the criticism the former England Test opener levelled at the current captain of the English team. The 28-year-old said that the former cricketer’s criticism ‘falls on deaf ears within the team’.

Boycott went on record saying that he believed that Morgan is not good enough against the world's best bowlers. He labelled England's 111-run loss to Australia in the World Cup as ‘brainless’ and ‘bloody stupid’.

Morgan was asked about Boycott’s criticism in his post-match media conference and the captain, who has been dismissed for ducks four times in his last 5 innings, avoided direct confrontation by saying that Boycott likes to be critical 24/7.

He said, “Geoffrey tends to be critical 24/7, and I actually don't know if people ... well, certainly people within the team, it falls on deaf ears.”

Senior fast bowler James Anderson also hit out at Boycott before the game over his criticism of Morgan's batting as he said, “It’s rich coming from him”.
