Facebook gears up for World T20 by unveiling Cricket stickers

The game of cricket enjoys a wide fan-following in India any time of the year and as the World T20, that began on March 9th with the qualifying phase of the 10-team tournament, gradually approaches the group stages the cricket fever is set to reach an all-time high.

The T20 format has seen crowds flocking to the stadiums in huge numbers as seen with the success of the IPL and with the top 10 international teams set to fight it out for the big prize, cricket crazy fans will surely be glued in front of the television sets as well as engaging in hotly contested debates on social media platforms. 

Facebook, which is no stranger to a fan following in India themselves, has now come on board and joined in with the cricket fever by announcing the launch of a stickers section dedicated exclusively for the sport as part of their tie-up with the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the tournament.

They display the various emotions that make the game of cricket a truly unique one. 

The 20 stickers designed by Facebook cater to the various departments with ones for batting, bowling, fielding as well as from the spectator point of view and shows emotions that make the game of cricket a truly unique one. The golden duck, the nail-biting finish and the angry bowler are some of the more spritely stickers to make an appearance and it is sure to make fans interaction with each other about an ongoing game a special experience. 

Attention has been paid to the fact that the World T20 will be played in India – a fact that can be ascertained by two stickers which display the words 'bach-gaya’ meaning ‘escaped narrowly’ and ‘bachega nahi’ meaning ‘you won’t be spared’ that will allow fans express their emotions in Hindi language as well. 

The stickers feature may be the highlight but there are a plethora of other features that have announced by Facebook to make the cricket experience much better than before. “Facebook Live" will enable fans to enjoy live videos of over 50 post-match press conferences in real-time from the stadium as well as match analysis, reviews, behind the scenes action, player conferences and more.

Fans will be able to add temporary profile picture frames to show support for their favourite teams while they can watch warm-up match footage and behind-the-scenes content like pitchside report by following #WT20 on Instagram.
