Fantasy Matchday 29: Best XI to pick for today's matches

AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers

Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets yesterday to stay alive in the competition. All the eight teams have a chance of making it to the playoffs and that is what makes the IPL very interesting.

KXIP couldn’t get going yesterday thanks to a fine bowling performance by Mumbai Indians who kept the scoring rate in check, restricting them to a below-par score of 174. Mumbai Indians started slowly but were always in control of the chase. With usual suspects like Gayle, Suryakumar etc firing, we are sure you would have racked up a lot of points yesterday.

We always look forward to the weekends as there are doubleheaders and a chance to score a lot of points! CSK take on RCB in the first game at Pune. RCB are desperate to put together a run of victories to have a chance of qualifying for the finals. CSK have lost two consecutive games but they know that a huge win might put them on top of the table and will pile pressure on SRH who play DD later today.

CSK are not expected to make any changes to their eleven but RCB will be boosted by the news that ABD is fit for today’s game. He is likely to replace Quinton de Kock or Brendon McCullum.

DD take on SRH in the second game today and know that only a win can keep their hopes of qualifying alive. DD are unlikely to tinker with their winning combination but SRH are likely to have Bhuvneshwar Kumar in their team.

Here’s our suggestion for the ideal playing XI in today’s games (5 core players who are must-haves for today’s game are marked as “CP”).

Today’s Best Eleven for CSK vs RCB:

1. Shane Watson (11.5 M- 201 Points)- CP

2. Ambati Rayudu (11.3 M- 263.5 Points)- CP

3. Virat Kohli (10.2 M- 246 Points )-CP

4. Suresh Raina (10.5 M- 180 Points)

5. AB De Villiers (10.6 M – 211 Points)- CP

6. Manan Vohra (6.3 M- 32.5 Points)

Alternate Options:

There are alternates for the players who have not been listed under the Core category in the above eleven. You can consider picking these players in your team but ensure that you are able to accommodate them with your available budget!

1. Umesh Yadav (9.8 M- 184.5 Points)

2. Quinton De Kock (10.4 M -111 Points)

3. Mandeep Singh (9.4 M- 143.5 Points)

4. Dwayne Bravo (10.6 M- 176 Points)

5. Faf Du Plessis (8.1 M- 47.5 Points)

Captain Options:

1. AB de Villiers – He is back from injury and will be key for RCB in this game. He made a quick fire 68 in the reverse fixture at Bengaluru earlier. He is in great form this season and with CSK’s bowling problems, he is an excellent choice as captain.

2. Shane Watson – He made a good start against KKR too but couldn’t carry on. He has already made a 100 this season at Pune and has the potential to repeat the performance. With CSK’s lack of trust in Karn, Watson has the potential to bowl few overs and fetch you points with the ball too.

Today’s Best Eleven for Starpick for DD Vs SRH:

1. Rishabh Pant (9.4 M- 285.5 Points) - CP

2. Shreyas Iyer (9.5 M- 236.5 Points) - CP

3. Kane Williamson (11.1 M- 244 Points) -CP

4.Shikhar Dhawan (9.8 M- 131.5 Points)

5. Prithvi Shaw (8.2 M – 100.5 Points)

7. Glenn Maxwell (8.9 M- 151 Points)

8. Vijay Shankar (7.9 M -98 Points)

9. Trent Boult (9.1 M – 170 points) - CP

10. Rashid Khan (10.6 M – 149.5 Points) - CP

11. Amit Mishra (7.9 M – 53.5 Points)

Alternate Options:

There are alternate options for the players who have not been listed under the Core category in the above eleven. You can consider taking these players in your team but ensure that you are able to accommodate them within your available budget!

1. Siddharth Kaul (9.1 M- 134 Points)

2. Shakib Al Hasan (10.8 M -179.5 Points)

3. Manish Pandey (10.2M – 129.5 Points)

4. Jason Roy (8.3 M – 80.5 Points)

5. Avesh Khan (8.1M – 56 Points)

Captain Options:

1. Rishabh Pant – He has been in terrific form, smashing bowlers all around the park. He should be the top picked captain today and it will be a risk in case he scores big and you don’t have him.

2. Rashid Khan – He has been bowling excellently in the last few games. DD’s middle order hasn’t really gotten going and he has the potential to pick a lot of wickets today.
