Flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir receive help from Sachin Tendulkar
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has sent in relief materials to the needy in Jammu and Kashmir as the state was hit by heavy floods recently, NDTV reports. According to the report, the master blaster has donated five tons of eatables, drinking water purifiers and 1000 blankets that arrived at Jammu on Saturday and were received by Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu.
Shantmanu extended gratitude on behalf of state’s Cheif Minister Omar Abdullah and assured distribution of relief materials as soon as possible to various districts.
The first of the five trucks were filled with 400 water filters that can satisfy the drinking needs of 10,000 people daily. Also, 100,000 chlorine tablets that can cater to 10,000 families for next three months were also donated as informed by the state’s CA official Ranjeet Kalra who co-ordinated the former cricketer’s donations.
Kalra mentioned that Sachin will always be remembered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir for his generous act at the difficult times. It can be recalled the some of the state’s cricketers narrowly escaped death after being forced to starve in testing conditions.
Thanking Sachin and SAR group of companies for their kind hearted act, he hoped more people to volunteer themselves, inspired from these donations.
