Focus on fitness and fielding paid off, says B Indrajith
Talking of the Super Over, had you planned your players in advance?
No, we did not plan those things. We did not expect the match to go to a Super Over.
Do you think you should have finished the match and avoided a Super Over?
I think I did a decent job. I did not want to hit the ball in the air. At least I wanted to get a Super Over and tie. I wanted to hit the ball to mid-wicket so that I could try and take two runs but it didn’t happen. I didn’t want to take a chance and hit the ball in the air.
You were cramping up quite a bit are you alright now?
It’s okay; it’s better but it’s not fully gone (cured).
Your brother scored a hundred yesterday. Do you have any similar targets?
We don’t have such targets but after his hundred I spoke to him yesterday and I told him because of him there is a lot of expectation on me.
Can we expect a hundred from you?
It’s not so easy to hit hundred in a T20 game. Yesterday, he (B Aparajith) played a blistering knock but not every day you can score those hundreds.
Your fielding was great. Has your team specially worked on anything in particular?
Actually, in our team we have youngsters and seniors . When this Kanchi side was formed, we focused on our fitness and fielding for the first week and I think that paid off.
Was there a reason that you came in to bat at No. 5?
I wanted to go after the sixth over and play in the middle overs and control the innings. That was the plan but there were a lot of early wickets in the six overs itself. I was planning to go at No. 4, but based on the situation it will change.
