Virender Sehwag pokes fun at Ross Taylor on Twitter

Taylor couldn’t have foreseen what happened after an innocuous tweet

Twitter has not only brought cricketers close to fans but also provided fellow cricketers an opportunity to converse and at times poke fun at each other. And that is precisely what happened between Ross Taylor and Virender Sehwag on Suresh Raina’s birthday.

New Zealand were dominating the second Test against Pakistan but it wasn't a great day for their star batsman Ross Taylor, whose inadvertent tweet led to him being trolled by former Indian opener Virender Sehwag.

Despite being bowled out for 271 in their first innings, New Zealand took a lead thanks to Tim Southee’s six-wicket haul on day three before play ended prematurely with the hosts still in command. However, Taylor, who was dimissed for 37 in the first innings, was the player who made the news.

And it was all thanks to an innocuous tweet that looked as though it was a mistake, to begin with. However, Virender Sehwag, who is known for being witty on social media took notice of Taylor’s mishap and reminded him that whether it is on the pitch or off it, there is no one like Sehwag to entertain everyone.

And it all started when Virender Sehwag wished Suresh Raina in his inimitable style.

For which, the southpaw was quick to respond.

And that is when it happened. Out of nowhere, Ross Taylor, who is currently playing in the second Test against Pakistan, was one of the people who replied to Raina's tweet.

It might have been a mistake but the former Indian opener wasn’t one to let it slide as he drew reference to Taylor's eye problem that has been bugging the Kiwi batsman for a while now.

The New Zealand batsman was quick to clear the confusion.

However, with the second Test still in the balance, Taylor put this humorous episode behind him and concentrated on his batting. That worked wonders for his team as his century helped New Zealand set a stiff target before the visitors collapsed to hand a 2-0 series win for Kane Williamson’s side.
