Former MS Dhoni coach comes out in condemnation of Yograj Singh's insult

Yuvraj Singh reacts as MS Dhoni hits the winning runs in the 2011 World Cup final

The latest development in the Yograj Singh – MS Dhoni controversy is that a former coach of the Ranchi lad has come out in condemnation of the slur thrown towards the Indian captain by Yuvraj’s father.

Chanchal Bhattacharya, who claims to have been the person who persuaded Dhoni to take up cricket over his first love football, says, “Yograj Singh is a great cricketer. I should not say much. But, he should be aware that it was Dhoni who backed Yuvraj Singh in a previous Asia Cup competition when many had been against his inclusion. Dhoni also backed him on several other occasions.”

"Such words don't suit a great cricketer like Yograj. Moreover, he is also aware that there are five selectors who select the team (and not the captain by himself)."

Yograj had claimed Yuvraj’s exclusion from the 2015 World Cup squad had been at Dhoni’s behest, and that the India captain would end up penniless in future because of his arrogance. Indian fans took wild offence at this and pledged support behind Dhoni, one of the nation’s most loved sons.

The other well loved son, Yuvraj Singh, distanced himself from his father’s comments – claiming he had no issues with Dhoni, and that the two had enjoyed the time they had spent together playing for the country.
