The new teaser was launched just moments before India’s opening match against New Zealand in the ICC World T20 2016.
In the brief 53-second video, Sushant Singh Rajput, dressed as a Ticket Collector (TC), is seen walking through a sea of commuters on a railway station as he reports for his first day of duty in South Eastern Railway. Sushant is seen earnestly listening to the instructions from his senior as he looks forward to take charge of his first professional assignment. The teaser ends with the chants of ‘Dhoni...Dhoni’ after he hit the winning six of the 2011 World Cup, helping India lift the title after 28 years.
Railway Platform to Wankhede Stadium
Scheduled to be released on September 2 2016, Sushant has essayed the character of M.S. Dhoni. The film is one of the most eagerly awaited biopics in 2016 as it portrays a next-door boy’s rise from the platforms of railway station to a towering sensation in the cricketing world.
Dhoni started off his Indian career with long hairs which instantly became a rage across the nation. Primarily he was seen as a wicket-keeper batsman who could send the ball a long way in the crowds. But with the passage of time, Dhoni transformed into a mature and dependable cricketer for the Indian team.
His cricketing brains and vision ensured he was made the captain for the ICC World T20 2007 – where he lead the team to glory with aplomb. Soon after he was handed over the reins of the ODI and Test team too and the rest, as they say, is history. MS Dhoni is hailed for his cool and calm persona on and off the field.
He was the first captain to lead his team to ICC World Cup Trophy on home soil in 2011. The six off Nuwan Kulasekara in the finals will forever remain etched in the memory of Indian fans. Dhoni is also the only captain to win all the ICC tournaments at least once.
The world would be waiting to know some of the untold stories about the man himself. It remains to be seen how Sushant portrays Dhoni’s trademark sixes on-screen.
