Full list of IPL 2025 teams and their parent company ft. RCB-Diageo

IPL 2025 is officially in the history books. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made history by winning their maiden IPL trophy on June 3 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium of Ahmedabad.

RCB made their debut in 2008, and after trying hard in 17 seasons, the Bengaluru-based franchise finally won their maiden championship in 2025. Soon after the team became the champions, a report from Bloomberg surfaced claiming that RCB's parent company Diageo is weighing options to sell some stake in the franchise.

Not many fans knew that Diageo is the parent company of the RCB team. Hence, in this listicle, we will list down the parent companies of the 10 IPL 2025 teams.


#1 RCB owners in IPL 2025 - Diageo PLC

British distiller Diageo PLC owns the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team in the Indian Premier League through its own Indian unit, United Spirits Ltd. Initially, beer tycoon Vijay Mallya bought this franchise to promote his 'Royal Challenge' brand, but Diageo later took over his spirits business, which also included the RCB team.

As per Bloomberg, shares of United Spirits gained 3.3% and hit a five-month high on Mumbai Trading on June 10. The parent company is reportedly thinking about selling a part or all of the stakes in the IPL franchise.


#2 MI owners in IPL 2025 - Reliance Industries

Mumbai Indians (MI) also came into existence in 2008. The Mumbai-based franchise is owned by the Indiawin Sports Private Limited, which is a subsidiary of the Ambani family-owned Reliance Industries.

Members of the Ambani family are often spotted enjoying the matches of Mumbai Indians in the VIP area of stadiums. MI also own franchises in overseas T20 leagues.


#3 GT owners in IPL 2025 - Torrent Group and Irelia Company Pte Ltd

Gujarat Titans (GT) joined the IPL in 2022. The Titans won the title in their debut season under Hardik Pandya's leadership. They made it to the final in 2023 and built a huge fanbase in a short amount of time.

CVC Capital Partners' Irelia Company Pte Ltd bought the Gujarat-based franchise in 2022, but ahead of IPL 2025, the owners announced the sale of 67% stake in the franchise to the Torrent Group. Now, Torrent owns 67% of GT, while CVC continues to hold a 33% stake.


#4 LSG owners in IPL 2025 - RPSG Group

Corporate giants RP Sanjiv Goenka Group bid a staggering ₹7090 crore to buy the first-ever IPL franchise based from Uttar Pradesh in 2022. The RPSG group named their team as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

LSG have qualified for the playoffs twice in the four seasons they have played. The group's face Sanjiv Goenka is often spotted in attendance for the LSG team's matches.


#5 CSK owners in IPL 2025 - Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited

India Cements initially owned the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team in IPL. However, in 2014, the owners demerged the franchise from the company and formed Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited as a separate entity.

CSKCL is incorporated as a public company, and as of 2023, India Cements Shareholders Trust (30%), Life Insurance Corporation of India (6%) and Saradha Logistics (6.9%) own some of the stakes in the company.


#6 SRH owners in IPL 2025 - SUN Group Private Limited

Sun Group's Kalanithi Maran bought the Hyderabad-based franchise in IPL after the exit of the Deccan Chargers before the 2013 season. Maran named the franchise as SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).

SRH won their first championship in IPL 2016. They have a sister franchise named SunRisers Eastern Cape in SA20. Kalanithi Maran's daughter Kaviya actively looks after the franchises in the two leagues.


#7 KKR owners in IPL 2025 - Knight Riders Sports Private Limited

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are three-time champions of IPL. Quite a few fans have the misconception that Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is the sole owner of the franchise, but the truth is the franchise is owned by Knight Riders Sports Private Limited.

Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment owns 55% of the stakes in the company, while Mehta Group owns the rest of the 45%. Mehta Group is headed by Jay Mehta, who is married to Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla.


#8 DC owners in IPL 2025 - GMR Group and JSW Sports

The Delhi-based franchise was bought by the GMR Group in 2008, and it was known as the Delhi Daredevils. In 2018, the GMR Group sold 50% of the stake in the franchise to JSW Sports for ₹550 crore, valuing the franchise at ₹1,100 crore.

Soon after that, the franchise was rebranded as the Delhi Capitals (DC). Now, both GMR Group and JSW Sports handle the franchise on a rotational basis. GMR Group managed the DC franchise in IPL 2025.


#9 PBKS owners in IPL 2025 - KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited

Punjab Kings (PBKS)' parent company's name is KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. The company has multiple stakeholders, including Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and Wadia group's Ness Wadia.

Zinta and Wadia hold 23% stake each in the company, while Dabur India chairman Mohit Burman owns 46% stake in the parent company of PBKS. Apeejay Surrendra group chairman Karan Paul owns the remaining 8%.


#10 RR owners in IPL 2025 - Emerging Media Sports Holdings Limited

BCCI initially sold the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise to Emerging Media for $67 million, making it the cheapest franchise to be sold in that round. The Emerging Media Sports Holdings Limited, controlled by Manoj Badale, still owns 65% stake in the franchise.

RedBird bought 15% stake in the Royals franchise in 2021, while the famous Murdoch media family's Lachlan Murdoch reportedly owns 13% of the franchise. Previously, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra were also a part of the ownership group.
