Future star all-rounders of Test cricket

Pandya
Pandya has been fantastic against England

All-rounders are a rare commodity in cricket, especially in Test cricket. While a lot of players can play a role of the all-rounder in limited-overs cricket, becoming a successful all-rounder in Test cricket is a difficult art to master. A lot of successful ODI all-rounders have failed to replicate their success in Test cricket. The primary reason for this is the difference in the level of temperament required for both the formats. While it is easy to play a cameo in ODIs and T20s, it is comparatively difficult to score runs in Test cricket as the field is more attacking. Similarly, in limited-overs cricket, the batsmen try to score runs quickly which results in easy wickets for the bowlers, but in Tests, the bowlers have to earn their wickets.

There are already some well-established all-rounders in Test cricket like Ben Stokes, Shakib Al Hasan and Mitchell Santner, and in the last year or so few more all-rounders have shown the calibre to succeed in Tests. These players have had a good start to their Test career so far and they will hope to continue the good work for their respective teams. Here is a list of all-rounders who can be successful names in Test cricket.

#3 Shadab Khan

Shadab has been impressive with his leg-breaks

Shadab Khan has been fantastic for Pakistan across all formats in the recent past. The 19-year-old has troubled a lot of batsmen with his leg-break bowling, especially in ODIs. Apart from his bowling, Shadab has been a handy lower-order batsman. In the Test series against England, while batsmen from both sides found it difficult to score runs, Shadab played some crucial innings for Pakistan. His all-round performance was one of the major reasons for Pakistan drawing the series 1-1. Pakistan will have high hopes from Shadab in the future.
