GAMBHIR LEADS DELHI TO SEMIFINAL AND KERELA STUNS PUNJAB TO REACH SEMI FINAL OF VIJAY HAZARE
Discarded Indian opener Gautam Gambhir continues his fine form after being dropped from national squad and scores an unbeaten 44 run against Gujarat in a quarterfinal match of the Vijay Hazare limited over tournament. His team Delhi lead by Rajat Bhatia won the toss and selected to bowl first. Sumit Narwal and Parwinder Awana run through the top and middle order of the Delhi and bowled out Gujarat for paltry total of 126 run in 32 over’s. For Gujarat Akshar Patel scores 30 run and P Panchal scores 21 run. Sumit Narwal took 5 wickets for 21 run. Awana and Bhatia took 2 wickets each. In reply riding on fine 44 run by Gambhir Delhi went past target of 126 run in just 28.4 overs losing 2 wickets. India’s U19 team’s hero Unmukt Chand was another notable scorer for Delhi. He scored 28 run. For Gujarat, R Kalaria only manages to picks up the wickets and he took the 2 wickets which are fallen in Delhi innings. In the second quarterfinal of the tournament, Kerela stuns the favorite Punjab by 46 run. Punjab won the toss and decided to field first. But the decision backfired on them and Kerela batsman dominates the proceeding and piled up a mammoth total of 320/6. VA Jagadeesh and Sachin Baby cracked a centuries each. VA Jagadeesh scored 119 of 120 balls and Sachin Baby scored 104 of just 70 balls. Jagadeesh hit 8 boundaries and 1 six in his 191 minute stay in crease and Sachin hit 12 boundaries in his cracking innings. Rajwinder Singh of Punjab took 2 wickets in his 10 over spell. In reply, Punjab manages to score only 274 run in 47.3 over’s. Gurkeerat Singh of Punjab miss a century by 1 run and skipper Mandeep Singh scored 81 from 96 balls. Gurkeerat faces 106 balls to build his innings. He scored 12 fours in his 99 run innings. Mandeep Singh hit 5 boundaries and 1 six. P Parameswaran Of Kerela picks 3 wickets and S Warrier picks 2 wickets. Tomorrow Assam will up against Ranji champion Mumbai and defending champion Bengal will face Karnataka in other two quarterfinal of the tournament.
