Gujarat Giants battled the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the sixth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) on Wednesday, March 8. The Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai hosted the match, which proved to be another run-fest in WPL 2023.

The Giants won the toss and decided to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium. Gujarat skipper Sneh Rana's decision proved to be excellent as her team finished with 201/7 in their 20 overs.

Dunkley attacked the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling unit and scored 65 runs off just 28 deliveries, with the help of 11 fours and three maximums. Meanwhile, Harleen Deol smacked a 45-ball 67, including nine boundaries and a six.

In response, Gujarat Giants suffered a middle-order collapse in the final overs but managed to cross the 200-run mark. Heather Knight was the pick of the bowlers for RCB, returning with figures of 2/17.

Chasing 202 for their maiden victory in the Women's Premier League, the Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a decent start. Opening batter Sophie Devine hit a half-century to keep RCB in the chase. However, the other batters could not convert their starts into big scores.

Eventually, the Royal Challengers Bangalore finished at 190/6 in their 20 overs and lost by 11 runs. Ashleigh Gardner was the best bowler for the Gujarat Giants, returning with figures of 3/31 in her four overs.

Shreyanka Patil came out to bat at No.8 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The result was already known by the time Patil got the opportunity to showcase her talent.

Nevertheless, she made full use of the opportunity and scored a four-ball 11. Her six in the leg-side region off Annabel Sutherland's on the fourth ball of the 20th over generated a buzz among the fans on social media.

Mansi Joshi showed character in the 12th over of the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings by scalping Ellyse Perry's wicket. The RCB all-rounder smashed Joshi for two fours in that over before Joshi bounced back with her wicket.

Perry attempted another big shot off Joshi's bowling in that over, but the ball landed straight into the hands of D Hemalatha.

Sophia Dunkley stole the show in the first innings of the WPL 2023 match between the Gujarat Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. She raced to 65 runs off just 28 deliveries, whacking 11 fours and three sixes.

Dunkley went berserk in the fifth over of the RCB innings, bowled by Preeti Bose. She smashed '4, 6, 4, 4, 4' in the five balls she faced in that over, completing her maiden WPL 2023 fifty off just 18 balls.
