Giant screens for Sachin Tendulkar's penultimate match in Bengal
Kolkata, Nov 3 (IANS) The West Bengal government plans to set up 200 giant screens across the state to enable fans to watch the India-West Indies cricket Test match at Eden Gardens, beginning Nov 6, the penultimate test of ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
State Sports Minister Madan Mitra said Sunday he has requested the premier sports clubs to allow the installation of the screens in their premises.
“I will visit clubs like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting, and Kalighat with the request. I will also appeal to them to ensure that the clubs are decked up with lights to celebrate the momentous occasion,” Mitra told mediapersons.
Such giant screens are also planned to be put up at shopping malls like South City and other popular spots.
Mitra appealed to corporate houses to distribute free snacks and chocolates for youngsters watching the match on giant screens.
