GIF: Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell showcases his new mystery shot
Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell, who is well known for his unorthodox style of batting, has revealed his new mystery shot.
The shot is a slight modification from the upper cut that has been popularised by Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in recent years. The difference between the upper cut and the shot played by Maxwell is that the Australian plays the ball from much closer to his body.
Speaking to Cricket Australia, the 25-year-old said: "I played it in England and got a boundary for it, so I might try and bring it out in Australia. It's off a short ball. You might see it this summer."
The Kings XI Punjab star might unleash the new shot in the triangular ODI series against Zimbabwe and South Africa later this month.
