Glenn Maxwell trolls Suresh Raina after he gets bowled on a dead ball
Suresh Raina was bowled in the 9th over of the Indian innings when he had been on 14, but had survived after the umpire had allowed him to get away with a very late pull out. After sending the first ball of the James Faulkner over for a boundary, he waited until very late to pull out of a shot as Faulkner steamed in to bowl the second delivery.
Faulkner was already in his delivery stride when Raina moved away from the stumps, pulling out just as the ball left the bowler’s hand. The ball crashed into the stumps, but the ball was called dead. Raina survived, and Faulkner walked back disappointed.
Faulkner put his hand up in apology, and there did not seem to be too much of an on-field complaint about Raina’s reprieve. However, Glenn Maxwell, watching from the sidelines as he is sidelined from action by a hamstring soreness, could hardly let the matter rest.
In the 2014/15 Big Bash League, Glenn Maxwell had been left red-faced after coming up with one of the worst ever pieces of judgement ever seen by a batsman. He had danced down the track to Ryan Duffield, only to then leave the ball as it cannoned into the stumps.
Maxwell saw strange similarities between his infamous leave and the one Suresh Raina got away with. Tongue in cheek, he said that he should have used Raina’s excuse in that match.
