Glenn McGrath may mentor young Indian fast bowlers

England cricketer Stuart Broad hands over a pink cap to former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath (L) during a charity ceremony prior to the third day of the fifth Ashes cricket Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 5, 2014.

Australia’s legendary bowler Glenn McGrath may soon be seen mentoring India’s international pacers ahead of the 50-over World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.

According to NDTV, the MRF Pace Academy, where McGrath is a trainer, has submitted a presentation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. If accepted, the National Cricket Academy will choose and send a group of bowlers who could improve form McGrath’s guidance.

A select string of players from the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore will head off to Chennai (where the Pace Academy is based) to train under McGrath’s wings.

“It will be a great opportunity. I would love to work with the young Indian crop,” said McGrath.

“I haven’t seen a single bowler who can bowl six good yorkers. If he can, I am sure the batsmen won’t be able to take him apart that easily.”
