CPL 2016: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots LIVE streaming, team news, prediction, probable playing XI

Sohail Tanvir is the highest wicket-taker in CPL 2016 so far

Team News:

The Guyana Amazon Warriors are currently at the top of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) table after their comprehensive victory against the Jamaica Tallawahs. After putting the Tallawahs to bat first, the Warriors bowled superbly to restrict Chris Gayle and co. to a total of 100 with Veerasammy Permaul being the pick of the bowlers. Although they lost 2 wickets for just 11 runs, the Warriors chased the target with 7 wickets and 2 overs to spare. Chris Lynn top scored for the Warriors with an unbeaten 39.

On the other hand, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were beaten in their previous game by the Barbados Tridents by 7 wickets. The Patriots chose to bat first after winning the toss and got off to a shaky start after losing Simmons, du Plessis, and Smuts early in the game. Evin Lewis top-scored with 50 and propelled the Patriots to a score of 162 before the Tridents chased down the target with the help of AB de Villiers and Shoaib Malik.

Probable Playing XI:

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Batsmen:

Continuing to open with the combination of Dwayne Smith and Martin Guptill, the pair could only manage to put 10 runs together in their previous match. While Smith has already registered a fifty in this season, skipper Guptill is still struggling to find form with the bat and will need to start performing for the Warriors, giving them the start they require at the top of the order. Aussie batsman Chris Lynn has played beautifully in his last 2 games and will be the key player for the Warriors. Jason Mohammed has been good for the Warriors, playing the supportive role in the middle0order and providing much-needed stability in the team. Wicket-keeper Anthony Bramble played a useful knock of 27 from just 18 deliveries, guiding the Warriors to a victory against the Tallawahs.

All-rounders:

West Indies all-rounder Rayad Emrit is turning out to be extremely useful in the bowling department for the Warriors. Emrit picked up a couple of wickets and conceded just 17 runs in the 3 overs that he bowled. The Warriors also have Chris Barnwell as another all-rounder in the squad for his medium-fast bowling.

Bowlers:

Sohail Tanvir has been leading the bowling attack for the Warriors and also played a crucial role in their victory against the Tallawahs. Tanvir bowled 3 overs and picked up 2 wickets, conceding just 11 runs. Tanvir is currently the leading wicket-taker in this season so far with 8 wickets and has a fantastic economy rate of 4.7 runs per over. Veerasammy Permaul was the Man of the Match in the previous game for his performance of 3 wickets in 4 overs while conceding 20 runs. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been consistently bowling well for the Warriors, picking up 2 wickets in his 4 overs and conceding 26 runs.

Probable XI: Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill (captain), Chris Lynn, Jason Mohammed, Anthony Bramble (wicket-keeper), Rayad Emrit, Chris Barnwell, Steven Jacobs, Sohail Tanvir, Veerasammy Permaul, Adam Zampa.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Batsmen:

West Indies opener Lendl Simmons has not exactly had a great start to this season with a high score of 30 so far. Evin Lewis scored at a strike-rate of 151 against the Tridents which included a couple of sixes and five boundaries. Lewis has 139 runs so far in 4 appearances with a couple of half-centuries to his name. Skipper Faf du Plessis still hasn’t found his touch with the bat and has scored 74 runs in 4 games. Wicket-keeper Devon Thomas has been the surprise package for the Patriots with his consistent batting performances, scoring at a strike-rate of 194 this season.

All-rounders:

The Warriors have the luxury of choosing from 4 all-rounders in their team. Jonathan Carter came good against the Tridents where he played a responsible knock of 41. Carlos Brathwaite is an useful player to bat lower down the order and can smack a few sixes. With the Sri Lankan Thisara Perera and JJ Smuts also in the team, the Warriors have depth in their batting department and that will provide problems for the opposition.

Bowlers:

Seamer Krishmar Santokie has been bowling well for the Warriors and has picked up 2 wickets in 4 matches. Spinners Samuel Badree and Tabraiz Shamsi had an off game against the Tridents in their previous game but have been reasonably good for the Warriors in this season.

Probable XI: Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Faf du Plessis (captain), Devon Thomas (wicket-keeper), Jonathan Carter, Carlos Brathwaite, JJ Smuts, Thisara Perera, Krishmar Santokie, Samuel Badree, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Prediction: Both teams look evenly matched and the batsmen will most likely decide the fate of this game.
