Mohammad Hafeez's action to be officially tested on April 9
Lahore, April 1 (IANS)
Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will undergo an official reassessment of his bowling action on April 9 in Chennai, along with Pakistan Women's allrounder Javeria Khan, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) statement said on Wednesday.
Hafeez was reported for suspect bowling action during the first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates last year.
He was put through independent biomechanical analysis of his suspect bowling action at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough, England, on November 24, 2014, which concluded that Hafeez's elbow extension exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance permitted by the International Cricket Council's (ICC) regulations and was thus declared an illegal action.
As a consequence, Hafeez was suspended from bowling in international cricket.
Hafeez has since been working with PCB's panel of experts for remodelling his bowling action to bring his elbow extension within the permissible tolerance limit.
Likewise, Javeria Wadood, member of the women cricket team, was also suspended for illegal bowling action in July 2010 after an analysis was done at the University of Western Australia.
She has also done worked on remodelling her bowling action with the help of experts.
