Harbhajan Singh can't get in the side as long as MS Dhoni is around: Sourav Ganguly
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has said that the out-of-favour off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will not be picked in the Indian team as long as MS Dhoni is around as captain. Ganguly, of late, has been extremely critical of the Indian captain, whose overseas record is going from bad to worse with every passing day.
Ganguly said, “”I think Bhajji can make a comeback to the national side in both forms of the game. I believe the selectors don’t think much on this (Harbhajan’s selection) and especially when you have captain’s men around.”
Comparing Harbhajan with Amit Mishra, Ganguly added, “He (Amit) is slow in the air and this makes it easy for a batsman to read him. It can be recalled how (Shane) Watson was hitting him in Nagpur during the ODI last October. Amit’s fielding is also not outstanding. I am not sure whether he would be able to make any difference to the team because all these sides are from the subcontinent and they know how to play spinners on these flat wickets. I am surprised that how come Bhajji and Ojha are sitting outside the team.”
With just over a year to go for the World Cup 2015 in Australia, the Indian team under MS Dhoni and Duncan Fletcher is yet to find a proper combination that can win matches abroad.
